Omega & Other Fatty Acids

Supplemental sources of OMEGA-3 fatty acids

Omega-3 fatty acids bestow many health benefits. With prevailing reduction in intake of fatty acids from oily fish, it’s evident that the population in general needs an increase in daily intake of omega-3.

This is not convenient or even desirable, for many people. Supplementation is therefore, the most available and direct source of the fatty acids EPA and DHA.

Our range of fish oils are sourced from the whole body of the fish as espoused to the liver. Although oil from the liver of the fish has its advantages (mainly cod liver oil), mainly towards maintenance of joint mobility, there are also disadvantages too such as heavy metal toxicity which can accumulate in the liver of the fish in polluted waters.

All our products provide the benefits of the fish oil without the potential disadvantages of the pollutants. The oil in our products guarantees clean, stable and free from heavy metal toxicity; mercury, lead, cadmium, PCBs and other contaminants, and we can offer patch certificates of analysis to show the purity of our oils.

What is the benefit of Phospholipids in a fatty acid product?

You will find that some of our omega and fatty acid supplements contain Phospholipids - Phospholipids are important for cell membrane integrity and for better absorption of the fatty acids. Phospholipids can transport essential nutrients directly into every cell of the body via a phospholipid form, and are also able to cross the blood-brain-barrier (BBB).

The Omega-3 vs Omega-6 ratio

Our bodies need a suitable ratio of Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids. However, recent studies have shown that until the 1850s the ratio between the two types of fatty acids was normal; 1:1. This, however, has now shifted to a ratio of 1:20 surging a huge imbalance in a short span of time, illustrating that our bodies are ill-equipped to assimilate an unsuitable fat intake.

This indicates the need of increasing our intake of omega-3 fatty acids to reclaim the beneficial balance.

We currently have three fish oils with two new launches expected as part of our “New Innovation Health Range” 1 x transdermal patch, 1 x oral tablets targeting joint health coming soon.

At present we have:

  • Lem-O-3, a delicious lemon flavoured fish oil in liquid form – suitable for infants 6m+ and adults
  • High potency fish oil capsules, and
  • R-Omega (from hearing roe) which is especially high in DHA

We also have a Krill oil product; and vegan DHA/EPA product made from algae that is suitable for adults and children. As well as, Omega Balance, Omega-6 fatty acids and GLA products.
